Anne Meadows has been a Brighton & Hove City Councillor for Patcham & Hollingbury since May 2021.  She is the Conservative Group's spokesperson for Housing and Audit & Standards and also attends the Children, Young People & Skills committee.

Anne works in the NHS at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in their Headquarters in the Corporate Governance department.  A Brightonian, she has lived locally in and around Brighton her whole life and in Patcham for the last 25 years, even attending Margaret Hardy school as it was then, now Patcham High. 

Anne is on the organising committee of the Patcham Duck Fayre and attends many of the local meetings to hear more of our residents views as that is so important to her and also to her colleagues Alistair McNair and Carol Theobald.  Anne has loved representing Patcham & Hollingbury for the last two years and feels very privileged to know and to be able to help so many residents in that time.  Anne is passionate about ensuring Patcham & Hollingbury have the best representation possible as its where we live, possibly work and play!

Anne says:

“I have always wanted to help residents and those who feel they cannot stand up for themselves. I feel I have been making a difference to the area in the two short years I have been a councillor for Patcham and Hollingbury.

 

“I attend many community meetings and support local organisations. In addition, I want to reverse the damage that is happening to our city by this Green and Labour coalition.

“I live in the ward and feel I have contributed and feel I have a lot more to contribute as a voice for the residents.  I am also an experienced councillor so understand a lot of the issues that residents face when contacting the council.”

The key issues in the ward are:

  • the Royal Mail sorting office proposal at the Patcham Court Farm site
  • weeds on the pavements and weeds too long on the grass verges
  • rubbish not being collected in a timely manner and when residents try to sort it out for themselves, they get frustrated with the poor response or lack of response."
